Building 72 laboratory exhaust fans were served by a hybrid rotary/battery type UPS which is located in an approximately 200 sqft, dedicated electric room in the penthouse. The UPS serviced FDA’s nine BSL 3 laboratories and vivarium. Matos developed a detailed sequencing plan of action which included the installation of a buss bar system, new panel, and manual bypass switch which reduced the outage time from 12 hours to 2 hours reducing the impact on the animals in the vivarium.
